About Charlotte Kaplan
When describing the inspiration for her fiber art, Charlotte who has over a forty-year career as a graphic designer, cites growing up amidst her family’s textile business.
“I love being surrounded by textures and fabrics because of their warmth, three dimensionality and play of shadows.”
Luxurious fabrics are incorporated into her fabrications. Each piece is truly one-of-a-kind because of the limited quantities of the fabrics. Charlotte developed this repetitive knot!
Her artistic influences derive from 20th century art. Specific artists she admires are Alexander Calder, for his movement, and the sculptor, Alberto Giacometti for his surface quality.
Charlotte has successfully blended the minimalist quality of abstract contemporary art with the warm associations of fabric. Her fiber pieces are sophisticated and charming. “I want to make art that makes people feel good in their environment” and many happy clients attest to her success in that regard.
Charlotte Kaplan accepts commission work for home interiors and public spaces.
